<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat belt device for a vehicle allowing the seat occupant to put off the seat belt easily when the vehicle is immersed in the water. <P>SOLUTION: The seat belt device is equipped with a water intrusion sensor 21, which consists of a sensor device to sense water intrusion into the vehicle through utilization of shortcircuiting of an electric circuit (capacitor shortcircuit) caused by water intrusion. On the condition that the sensor 21 senses a water intrusion, an electronic control unit 30 disengages the control of winding the seat belt 11, i.e. the control of increasing the tension of the seat belt and the control of maintaining the tension of the seat belt 11, and admits the seat belt 11 to be drawn out freely. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
