PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording device which is configured to reduce clogging of nozzles, and discharge failures such as impact failures of ink droplets, by preventing a viscosity increase of ink within the nozzles at the time of capping, and inclusion of bubbles and dust. SOLUTION: The inkjet recording device includes a printing head for carrying out recording by discharging ink from the nozzles to a recording medium, a capping means for covering a nozzle face where ink discharge openings of the nozzles are formed, and a capping sensor for detecting whether or not the nozzle face is covered by the capping means. The inkjet recording device has a predischarge control means. When the capping sensor detects that the capping means is in the middle of capping, the predischarge control means controls so that the ink is predischarged while the capping state is maintained every time a capping time exceeds a predetermined time.
