PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compensation apparatus and method for carrier frequency offset and phase of an orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) system in which a phase rotation of a receiving terminal OFDM signal formed from the carrier frequency offset between a system receiving terminal and a transmitting terminal. SOLUTION: In the frequency offset compensation apparatus and method, the carrier frequency offset is calculated from a phase difference between frequency response predictors of two preceding and following OFDM symbols in a pilot sub channel of the system, and a cumulative phase rotation is calculated to compensate the OFDM signal of the receiving terminal. In the phase compensation apparatus and method, sub channel signals of the OFDM signal compensated by the frequency offset compensation apparatus and method are received, a remaining phase error is calculated from a phase difference between a signal compensated by passing through a channel again in a pilot sub channel in the sub channel signals, and an original transmitting signal of the system transmitting terminal, and signals of the sub channels are compensated.
