The foil retainer has a pipe (1) arranged perpendicular to a measuring rod (2) for receiving a roll of foil. A clamping device (4), fastened to a guide rod (3), is attached at one end of the measuring rod. A fixed base plate (6) and a removable and lockable cover plate (7) are arranged at the pipe. The guide rod is fastened to a scaffold. An independent claim is also included for the use method of the foil retainer.
