PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain reduction of power consumption required for screen strain correction and convergence correction or the like in a projection cathode-ray tube device combining a projection cathode-ray tube and a deflector made of a deflection yoke and a convergence coil or the like, and the projection cathode-ray tube device with high definition having superior focusing characteristics, and a projection display device. SOLUTION: A strain generation coil (rotation coil) 21 is arranged on the fluorescent screen 8a side than the main deflection coils 201, 202 of the deflection coil 20, and by impressing a current synchronized with the deflection current impressed on the vertical deflection coil 202 on this strain generation coil 21, screen strain (mistake convergence of screen) correction is carried out.
