PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly detect any absent device without waiting for time-out, and to easily and surely detect the generation of any failure. SOLUTION: This system is provided with a plurality of devices 11, 12, 21, 22 and 23 connected to a computer main body 40 and a controllers 10 and 20 connected to the computer main body 40 for monitoring the connecting status of each device according to response signals transmitted from the respective devices 11, 12 or 21, 22 and 23. This system is also provided with absence notifying devices 31 and 32 unconnected to the computer main body 40 for setting the identification information of any absent device for specifying one or more connectable devices, and for transmitting a response signal including the identification information to the controller 10 or 20 to notify the absence of the device.
