LIQUID CRYSTAL COMPOSITE MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal composite material suitable for application to light valves. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal composite material is prepared by dispersing a plurality of lumps of liquid crystal material into matrix material. Therein, the liquid crystal material is at least partially separated from the matrix material by an encapsulating material or a boundary material which is continuously arranged around the liquid crystal material. The liquid crystal material is preferably a nematic liquid crystal material exhibiting positive dielectric anisotropy. Furthermore, the liquid crystal material preferably contains multi-color dye.
