PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the pitch variation between a pair of photodetectors used for one light scanning path by reducing the influence of a thermal deformation in an optical scanning device which is simply manufactured. SOLUTION: The optical scanning path is formed by furnishing optical components in an optical housing 51 and a scanning time from the beginning position to the ending position of writing is measured by arranging the pair of photodetectors 55 and 56 in the optical scanning path. In such an optical scanning device, the pair of photodetectors are fit in the optical housing via an intermediate member 57 which has a thermal expansion coefficient smaller than that of the housing. The intermediate member 57 fixes the optical housing at the same time on a main body frame 50 on the side of the main body of an image forming device by using a fitting member which fits the beginning position side of writing on the optical housing.
