PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance measurement support device for supporting the measurement of a relative distance to a desired place or object as a product of the propagation time required of an electromagnetic wave or another wave motion signal and the speed of the wave motion signal, and a position measuring device and a position measuring method for measuring the position of a place or an object by linkage with the distance measurement support device, stably measuring the distance cut the position over a wide range of several centimeters to several kilometers with good accuracy. SOLUTION: The distance measurement support device is composed of a receiving means for receiving a first signal incoming from the transmission end; and a transmission means for transmitting a second signal which is different from the first signal to the transmission end at a point in time delayed by a predetermined delay time from the point in time when the first signal was received by the receiving means.
