PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber with a shock absorber body having a reduced weight without lowering its strength, having a spring seat mounting structure. SOLUTION: The shock absorber comprises the shock absorber body, a mounting part swollen on the outer periphery of the body, and a spring seat 3 inserted into the outside of the body for supporting a coil spring while being locked to the mounting part. The mounting part has a plane portion at the end, perpendicular to the axis of the body. The spring seat has a cylindrical seat body 15 and a seat portion 16 and a lock portion 18 continuously provided inside and outside the seat body, respectively. The lock portion is locked to the plane portion, and a movement preventing means is provided between the seat body and the mounting part for preventing the relative rotation and up-and-down movement of both of them.
