PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method and a production system where a metal-coated wire rod can be produced by using metal in the minimum amount under conditions enough for requirement without causing disconnection and the peeling of a metal coating film. SOLUTION: A core material 10 is pulled out to a free space through molten metal 24 stored in the storage part 22 of a vessel 14 and the exhaust port 26 of the vessel. The molten metal leaked out from the exhaust hole to the free space along the outside surface of the core material in accordance with the pulling out of the core material is solidified by a refrigerant to form a specular metal coating film on the surface of the core material.
