PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform printing up to the end part of a print sheet without shooting an ink drop at a platen. SOLUTION: A region R being ejected with ink drops for forming an image is set while exceeding over the end of the print sheet P. Each pixel at the outer upper end part Rfp being set while exceeding over the upper end Pf is recorded only with a nozzle facing the downstream side groove part of the platen. An inner upper end part Rfq located on the downstream side of the outer upper end part Rfp is also recorded only with a nozzle facing the downstream side groove part. When dots are recorded, no margin appears at the end part of the print sheet even if the print sheet P is shifted from an assumed position so long as the upper end of the print sheet P exists in the outer upper end part Rfp or the inner upper end part Rfq and no ink drop is shot at the platen. The outer upper end part Rfp and the inner upper end part Rfq are set to have substantially identical dimensions in the subscanning direction even if the recording density or recording system of image is different so long as the dimensions and material of the print sheet for forming the image are identical.
