<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently select a color filter which realizes specified color reproducibility and which is suitable for a display device by utilizing a color estimation technique. <P>SOLUTION: The device for selecting a color filter which constitutes a display panel is equipped with a color estimating means to calculate an estimation result of the color to be displayed by the display panel with color estimation processing based on characteristics of display panel constituents including the color filter, an error evaluating means to evaluate a prediction error resulting from the color estimation processing, a design standard required for realizing the specified color reproducibility, a setting means to set new design standards based on the prediction error and a selecting means to decide whether the estimation result of the color satisfies the new design standards or not for a plurality of color filter candidates and to select the satisfactory color filter candidate as the color filter provided with the specified color reproducibility. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
