<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise the recognition of environment of a driver by frequently and easily performing evaluation of operation technique of the driver. <P>SOLUTION: By subtracting remaining fuel quantity in a fuel tank 15 at the time point when a vehicle passes a check point in a course to the destination, from the remaining fuel quantity in the fuel tank 15 at the time point when the vehicle passes a previous check point in the course, fuel consumption is calculated for the section before the check point (referred to as evaluation section, hereinafter) where the vehicle passes. Then, the distance of the evaluation section is calculated based on the link information contained in a map data input device 6. The fuel consumption in the evaluation section is calculated by dividing the distance of the evaluation section by the consumed fuel in the section. By reading the latest three fuel consumption of the evaluation sections out of an external memory 9, average fuel consumption of the latest three times is calculated.
