PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it is unbearable for operators and neighboring residents since the sludge before incineration is too severe though the incineration treatment of malodorous sludge is known. SOLUTION: As shown in Figure (a), a liquid mixture 12 obtained by blending water with a deodorant and pyroligneous acid is added to a dehydrated cake 15 to produce a muddy liquid 16. Then as shown in figure (b), the muddy liquid 16 is agitated for 30 minutes or more by a mixer 17. Malodor of the dehydrated cake can quickly and extremely be reduced by synergism of the pyroligneous acid and the deodorant to improve working environment.
