PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient recording format which is capable of recording audio data of various types by imparting flexibility to the recording format of an audio data recording area, and capable of recording metadata too, and which further takes replacement processing into account. SOLUTION: A metadata recording area is provided in an audio data recording area to record metadata also in a vacant channel area. A defect replacement area is disposed in the audio data recording area to improve the access of replacement processing, and the replacement area is shared by audio data and metadata to be efficiently used. A plurality of types and a plurality of recording patterns are provided in the audio data recording area to flexibility deal with various audio data types.
