PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a foreign matter from being invaded into an electric motor in an electric power steering apparatus having a communicating passage which can ventilate interiors of a yoke and a housing of the electric motor and which is provided at the partition wall of a brush holder. SOLUTION: The brush holder 33 of the electric motor 30 is sandwiched between the yoke 36 and the housing 11 of the electric motor 30. The electric power steering apparatus 10 includes the communicating passage 61 which can ventilate the interiors of the yoke 36 and the housing 11 of the electric motor 30 and which is provided at the partition wall 53 of the brush holder 33. The electric power steering apparatus 10 further includes a shielding means 63 opposed to an opening opposed to the interior of the yoke 36 in the communicating passage 61 provided at the brush holder 33, via a narrow passage 62.
