PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the response of a switching power supply unit composed of a plurality of DC-DC converter circuits connected in series. SOLUTION: This switching power supply unit comprises a first DC-DC converter circuit 10 of an insulation type with a transformer, and a second DC-DC converter circuit 20 of a non-insulation type cascade-connected to the first DC-DC converter circuit 10. The first DC-DC converter circuit 10 includes a function for continuously transmitting electric power from the primary side to the secondary side of the transformer, while the second DC-DC converter circuit 20 includes a function for stabilizing an output voltage. Thus, a control gain can be improved to a high-frequency range, therefore high response can be obtained, thus obtaining high conversion efficiency. The output of the first DC-DC converter circuit 10 is not formed into a pulse form, thus eliminating a choke coil from the first DC-DC converter circuit 10. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
