PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic zoom apparatus and an electronic zoom method which can combine zoom images, without decreasing resolution when the image is zoomed in. SOLUTION: Data for interpolating interpolation pixels from a blocked base image and an enlarged image enlarged from the base image is learned and stored in a ROM 104. The base image data, blocked in a blocking circuit 102, are classified in a class-code generation circuit 103 to generate a class code. In the ROM 104, the data for interpolation according to the class code are read, to be sent to a pixel combination circuit 107. In addition, each pixel of the position-converted base image data from a pixel position converter 105 is sent to a pixel combination circuit 107, to combine the enlarged image.
