PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boiling water reactor fuel assembly of high reliability capable of restraining shadow corrosion and reduced in hydrogen absorption even when using an Ni-based alloy spacer, as to fuel of high burnup exceeding 45GWd/t. SOLUTION: In this fuel assembly for a boiling water reactor of the fuel assembly of high burnup exceeding 45GWd/t, rodlike elements containing a plurality of fuel rods filled with a predetermined number of fuel pellets to be sealed and containing water pipes having a diameter larger than that of the fuel rod are arrayed tetragonal lattice form in a fuel cladding tube to be supported in a plurality of portions with spaces along a longitudinal direction by a plurality of spacer members. A composition of the fuel cladding tube comprises improved zirconium alloy having the composition of 1.2-1.7 wt% of Sn, 0.25-0.50 wt% of Fe, 0.05-0.15 wt% of Cr, 0.05-0.10 wt% of Ni, and the rest of Zr, the spacer member comprises mainly Ni alloy, and (an) oxide coating film(s) formed by preliminary surface oxide coating film forming treatment is(are) provided on both or either surface(s) in each of the cladding tube and/or the spacer members.
