PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting method for steel strip for quickly and surely allowing a product to abut on a stopper at a safe abutting speed even in occurrence of such an abnormality as there is a weight excess and a shape inconvenience such as downward warp in the product. SOLUTION: This cutting method for the steel strip cuts the product by a saw in a state of allowing the product tip to abut on the stopper by carrying the rolled product 1 of steel strip by a table up to the stopper 3c arranged downstream of the saw 2. A top speed V1 maintainable for a prescribed time (t) is determined according to a carrying distance L up to the stopper. A table speed is set to the top speed in the first place, and is next switched to a zero speed V0 in the prescribed first timing t1, and is also switched to a prescribed safe abutting speed V2 immediately after switching to a prescribed energizing speed VF in the prescribed second timing t2.
