PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sufficient algicidal effect in an algicidal method for a cleaned water tank by solving the problem that no sufficient algicidal effect is obtained in a method for floating photocatalyst-carrying pumice in water within a water tank or a water circulating system to irradiate the same with ultraviolet rays. SOLUTION: In the algicidal method for the cleaned water tank, the photocatalyst-carrying pumice is floated in the cleaned water tank. That is, the photocatalyst-carrying pumice is floated on the surface of the water in the cleaned water tank so that pumice particles are brought into contact with each other but not superposed one upon another and irradiated with solar rays or ultraviolet rays with a wavelength of 400 nm or below.
