Semi-conductors (2) producing waste heat are arranged around and connected to a cooling block (1) in the form of a hollow profile or tube. Air flows (6) through the cooling block to extract heat conducted through the block. Air flowing through the cooling block (1) increases in temperature and flows via an outlet (7) to an air heater of the welding extruder. The hollow profile may be formed into one part by plastic surfaces which form part of a housing in which semi-conductors (2) and the hollow profile are located. The semi-conductors are mounted on a single part which is of a material with high heat conductivity. Surfaces of the hollow profiles on which the semi-conductors are mounted have internal ribs, lamellae or similar surface enlarging features. The ribs or lamellae leave a space in the center of the hollow profile for housing a drive motor (5) powering an axial, radial or impeller fan for blowing or sucking air through the profile to an air heater. An independent claim is included for a plastic welding extruder incorporating the claimed heat extraction system. |
