<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording method which can improve ink absorption and ink fixation, i.e. drawbacks involved in image formation with a water dispersion type ink containing a water-insoluble colorant. <P>SOLUTION: In this image recording method, ink is deposited on a recording medium including at least one ink receiving layer on a support to form an image. Ink for inkjet recording includes a polymeric dispersant comprising a block copolymer containing at least one hydrophobic block and at least one hydrophilic block, a water-insoluble colorant, a water-soluble organic solvent, and water. The ink receiving layer contains inorganic fine particles and a water-soluble resin and/or a water-dispersible resin.
