WAVELENGTH DIVISION MULTIPLEXING SEMICONDUCTOR OPTICAL DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength division multiplexing semiconductor optical device realizing simple port constitution without generating fluctuation of a coupling loss.

SOLUTION: A multiplexed optical signal ofλ1toλ8is inputted to an input port 101 of an AWG (Arrayed Wavelength Grating) 105 and demultiplexed to a demultiplexed signal output port 102 and a multiplexing input port 103. When light having wavelengths ofλ1toλ4is inputted from the demultiplexed signal output port port 102 to the multiplexing input port 103 from which light having wavelengths ofλ5toλ8is outputted via an SOA which is not figured, the multiplexing output of the light having the wavelengths ofλ1toλ4can be taken out to a multiplexing output port 104 positioned symmetrically to the multiplexing input port 103. Since the light having wavelengths ofλ5toλ8of the multiplexing input port 103 is inputted from the demultiplexed signal output port 102 positioned on the opposite side of the light having wavelengths ofλ1toλ4of the multiplexing input port 103 to the AWG 105 via the SOA, the light having the wavelengths ofλ5toλ8is never multiplexed to the wave synthesis signal output port 104 the same as the multiplexing output of the light having wavelengths ofλ1toλ4.
