<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized, light-weighted surface light source device in which a gap between a light guide plate and a frame is eliminated, and the formation or the like of an interference pattern of light is eliminated. <P>SOLUTION: In this surface light source device 7, the surface light guide plate 20 and the frame 2 in order to hold the surface light guide plate 20 are integrally formed by a resin, and at a position corresponding to an enclosure other than the light incident side face of the surface light guide plate 20, an air layer 21 for dividing the frame 20 is installed, and a diffusing reflection sheet is pressed into the air layer 21.
