<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an LED printer in which power consumption can be reduced without applying a useless strobe signal depending on the width of image data. <P>SOLUTION: Set data corresponding to the width of image data is stored in a register (B)46, width of each STR signal is stored in a register (A)41, clk is counted in a counter (A)42 by that width, and select output from an MPX47 is stepped every time when the number of count-up is counted in a counter (B)43. In case of A3 size, outputs from OR circuits 48-0 to 48-7 corresponding to all bits are "0" and all STR signals are selected sequentially from STR generating circuits 49-0 to 49-7. In case of B5 (vertical) size, outputs from the OR circuits 48-0 to 48-4 corresponding to 5 bits are "0" and STR0 to STR4 signals are selected sequentially from the STR generating circuits 49-0 to 49-4.
