PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that prevents an electrifying means from being soiled due to aging and extends its life. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a photoreceptor 1; an electrifying roller 2 which electrifies the photoreceptor 1 while it is close to or in contact with the photoreceptor 1; and a brush roller 12 which clears away foreign matter sticking to the electrifying roller 2. The surface roughness (Rz) of the electrifying roller 2 which is to be cleaned is 25μm or less. This makes it less probable that foreign matter such as toner sticks to the electrifying roller 2 and, even in the case that the foreign matter such as toner sticks to the brush roller 12, makes it easy to remove the foreign matter with the brush roller 12.
