PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to promptly correct display errors when display error arise, without causing blinking etc., in a dot matrix LCD. SOLUTION: In a display control section, the display data actually displayed on an LCD are read from a register of an LCD controller at prescribed time intervals, and the display data and the initial set data and display data stored in a memory are compared and whether the display error occurs in the LCD or not is judged (steps 200 to 210). If judgment is made that the display error occurs in the LCD as a result thereof, the redisplay is performed after the LCD controller is initialized (steps 206, 210 and 212).
