PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning monochromator equipped with optical fiber input/output which is highly-sensitive without reacting to polarization and also enhanced in its accuracy for enabling spectrochemical analysis of a wide dynamic range. SOLUTION: This scanning monochromator is provided with a means for introducing an input light beam (10), a diffraction grating for generating a spatially-diverged light beam (16), a means rotating the diffraction grating in order to scan the diverged light beam along the divergence axis, an optical shaft angle encoder directly-connected with a drive shaft to detect a rotational position of the diffraction grating, a mobile profile generator generating digital sweep profile of diffraction grating sweep, a feedback means for controlling a motor depending on the rotational positions and sweep profile signals, and a means (40, 42) converting the diverged light beam into the prescribed output light beam.
