PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the falling of a mold during work by judging whether the mold to be used has a predetermined size having no falling fear of the mold during work because sufficient magnetic force acts on the mold, before molding work. SOLUTION: The mold fixing device 10 is equipped with a magnet plate 11 constituted so as to fix a mold 2a to a fixed platen 2 to attract and fix the mold 2a to the fixed platen 2 by magnetic force in a fixing releasable manner, ultrasonic sensors 12 and 13 for outputting the signals related to the size of the mold 2a fixed to the fixed platen 2 and a size judging means for judging whether the mold 2a has a predetermined size capable of fixing the mold 2a to the fixed platen 2 on the basis of the signals outputted from the ultrasonic sensors 12 and 13. By this constitution, the use of the mold 2a, which has a small size having fear letting the mold 2a to fall during work, can be prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
