Hot asphalt charge production comprises release of molten bitumen and water into pre-heated dry minerals

In a process to mix a charge of asphalt for e.g. road building, a combination of pre-prepared molten bitumen and water are dropped into pre-heated dry, hot minerals. In the process, hot water is introduced as fine droplets into the hot bitumen. The formation of steam results in a combined mass with a greater volume than the sum of the individual components. The admixed quantities of bitumen and water are regulated individually. An independent claim is included for an apparatus for the above process.
