The sleeping area (2) is assembled of three segments (4, 5, 6) joined with hinges (7, 9) in order to be moved around transversal axles. Each of the segments (4, 5, 6) is fitted with a particularly shallow border (17). The frame (3) has two vertical legs extending from the headboard (12) and two inclined support parts (18a, 18b) at the front. When the patient intends to leave the bed (1) the foot area (4) is folded into a vertical position, while the central part (5) is slightly inclined and the head resting area (6) also vertically positioned.
