The drive system includes a ball trace stationary housing part and a moveable housing part. The moveable housing part has a mirror holder. At least two electric motors are provided in the stationary housing part, each having a step down gear. Means are provided for transmitting the adjustment force to the moveable housing part. A guide is provided between the two housing parts. The fixed housing part has, in a first, lower plane, a free space for the control and analysis electronics and, in an upper, second plane, space for the motors and gears. On the first activation after installation, assembly or repair, the circuitry enables a reference run of the motors whereby the end positions of the adjustment are automatically identified and saved.
