<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate occurrence of flooding and drying of a polymer electrolyte membrane, and enable a stable power generation whether it is a low current density generation or a high current density generation. <P>SOLUTION: A gas supply side separator moving part 10 is arranged at the vicinity of a gas supply manifold 8 of the separator 5 and a gas exhaust side separator moving part 11 is arranged at the vicinity of the gas exhaust manifold 9 respectively as a separate member from the main body portion of the separator 5. Then, these gas supply side separator moving part 10 and the gas exhaust side separator moving part 11 slide in a direction crossing at right angles a parallel passage part 7, thereby the entrance part and the exit part of the reaction gas at the parallel passage part 7 are selectively closed, and the flow shape of the gas passage is switched over to a parallel passage shape and a comb-form passage shape. When generation is made at low current density or the humidity of the gas is low or the like, the parallel passage shape is selected, and when generation is made at high current density or the humidity of the reaction gas is high, or the like, the comb-formed passage shape is selected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
