PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a near-field microscope which utilizes a waveguide rosonator. SOLUTION: The near-field microscope includes a wave source 3 for regulating the frequency of the wave, the waveguide resonator 5 for making the waves emitted from the wave source 3 advance, a probe 7 inserted in the waveguide resonator 5 so as to pierce the outer wall thereof, to allow the wave advancing through the waveguide resonator 5 to interact with a sample 10 and a detector 12 for detecting the wave propagated through the probe 7 and advanced through the probe 7 and the waveguide resonator 5, after interacting with the sample 10. The near-field microscope can be used over in the range of the microwave band to the milimeter wave band by utilizing the probe 7 coupled to the waveguide resonator 5, and can have its volume minimized and sensitivity and resolving power enhanced.
