PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate an oblique correction processing setting to a read image of each image sensor in an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The positions of two points at both ends (the head position and the inverse end position) on the side of a transfer direction of an original front (rear) image are detected by a tilt detection part 101 and tilt of the image of the original front (rear) image is detected based on positional information about the two points. Change processing of the tilt of the image of the original front (rear) image is performed by a tilt change processing part 106 based on the tilt of the image and the tilt of images on the original front image and the original rear image are mutually matched. Thus, since the tilt are matched, processing setting such as oblique correction to the original front image and the original rear image becomes unnecessary to be individually performed to each of a CCD (charged coupled device) image sensor 59 and a close coupling image sensor 67 and the oblique correction processing setting is facilitated.
