PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the creation and management of a replication volume by effectively managing a large and widely distributed storage system. SOLUTION: For mirroring of user-specified primary (or production) volumes, a pool of mirror volumes is provided, and one or more volumes are selected for mirroring from the mirror volume pool.
