PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white-light electroluminescent device that is superior in electroluminescent characteristics and thermal stability. SOLUTION: The electroluminescent device includes an electroluminescent layer 6 between an anode 2 and a cathode 10. In the electroluminescent layer 6, semiconductor ultrafine particles and electron-transporting molecules and/or hole-transporting molecules are dispersed in a high-molecular compound. The device includes an electron-transporting layer 8 between the cathode 10 and the electroluminescent layer 6, while including a hole-transporting layer 4 between the anode 2 and the electroluminescent layer 6.
