PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detergent composition which is highly safe, is readily used, causes neither the problem of waste water treatment nor adverse effect on the environment and does not affect the surface of a material to be cleaned, its container and a cleaning article. SOLUTION: The detergent composition is prepared by mixing 30 parts wt. of D-limonene with 30 parts wt. ofγ-butyrolactone, 15 parts wt. of ammonium thioglycolate, 25 parts wt. of distilled water or ion exchange water, 10 parts wt. of polyethylene glycol decyl ether and 100 parts wt. of diethylene glycol monobutyl ether. The cleaning article is obtained by holding the detergent composition in a container 1 constituted of a container main body 3 and a protecting bottle 5 composed of a polyethylene resin inserted into the inside of the container main body 3.
