<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery having low internal resistance, high output power and high capacity, and showing an excellent charge-discharge cycle characteristic even in a high-temperature condition. <P>SOLUTION: This lithium secondary battery is characterized by using a substance containing, as a positive electrode active material, a lithium transition metal composite oxide expressed by a general formula: Li<SB>X</SB>M<SB>Y</SB>O<SB>Z-δ</SB>, wherein M is Co or Ni of a transition metal element; and relationships (X/Y)=0.98-1.02 and (δ/Z)≤0.03 are satisfied; containing vanadium (V) and/or boron (B) of ((V+B)/M)=0.001-0.05 (mol ratio) with respect to the transition metal element M constituting the lithium transition composite oxide; and having a ≥1 μm primary particle diameter, a ≥450 Å crystallite size and a lattice distortion below 0.05%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
