<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bar code reader in which basic width of a bar code is precisely calculated, reading precision of the bar code is improved and a readable range is enlarged and to provide a bar code reading method. <P>SOLUTION: A scan result of the bar code is differentiated, and inter-peak distancesΔT1 toΔTi of differential data are calculated. A frequency when an inter-peak distanceΔTx is assumed to be y-times as much as basic width is calculated as f(x, y)=y/ΔTx on the inter-peak distancesΔT1 toΔTi, and a frequency map is generated. A transition route selecting one frequency from the respective inter-peak distancesΔT1 toΔTi is generated. A transition route R0 where an error of the frequency included in the transition route is the smallest is made to be optimum, and an average value of the frequency included in the transition route R0 is set to be a frequency f0 of basic width. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
