<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of accurately detecting density without being influenced by a density detection pattern formed on an image carrier previous time even in the case of increasing the amount of the density detection pattern in order to improve the accuracy of density control. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with at least the image carrier, an electrifying means for electrifying the image carrier to have a specified polarity, an exposure means for forming an electrostatic latent image on the image carrier and a developing means for visualizing the electrostatic latent image formed on the image carrier, and forms the image by transferring the image developed by the developing means to a recording medium. When the total length of the specified density detection pattern is longer than the peripheral length of the image carrier, the specified density detection pattern is divided to a plurality of blocks so as to be generated and each of the generated density detection pattern being a plurality of blocks is controlled to be formed on the image carrier so as not to be superposed while the image carrier consecutively rotates twice. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
