The shock absorber adjuster includes a resistance wheel (20) rotationally fixed on the base (12) of the machine and a rotational element (30) also rotatably fixed on the machine base and having a resistance section (31) and a drive section (32) so that as the rotational element rotates the resistance section moves closer and away from the resistance wheel. A drive mechanism (50) on the base surface has a drive source, turntable and nose (52). A tension element (60) generates a spring force which holds the drive section of the rotational element in contact with the nose of the drive mechanism so that when the nose is moved the rotational element turns by an angle and the distance between the resistance section and resistance wheel is changed for further adjusting the resistance which is produced during the rotation of the wheel.
