<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light and thin surface type lighting device, despite its large light-emitting area, that has high luminance and without unevenness in luminance. <P>SOLUTION: The surface type lighting device 10 comprises light sources 14 which are arranged behind a lighted member 12 ; light guide plates 16 which are arranged respectively between the respective adjacent light sources 14 ; lighting curtains 20 which are arranged respectively between the lighted member 12 and the respective light sources 14, and so on. A part of the light that enters directly into the lighted member 12 from the light sources 14 illuminates the partial areas of the lighted member 12, facing the lighting curtain 20, through the lighting curtains 20. The rest of the light that is emitted from the light sources 14 illuminates the rest areas of the lighted member 12, passing through the light guide plate 16. Therefore the lighted member 12 has a large area, and consequently, the whole area of the lighted member 12 having the large area can be illuminated by the high luminance and without unevenness in luminance light without the appearance of a lamp image, even if the plural light sources 14 are disposed directly under the lighted member 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
