<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original plate for a planographic printing plate, in which direct platemaking is possible by scanning exposure of IR rays from digital data of a computer or the like and which has excellent development latitude, contamination resistance and printing durability. <P>SOLUTION: The original plate for a planographic printing plate comprises an intermediate layer containing a polymer having a monomer having at least an onium group as the structural component, and a recording layer containing at least (A) a polymer compound having a carboxyl group, (B) an alkali-soluble resin and (C) a compound which absorbs light to generate heat, successively layered on a supporting body subjected to hydrophilic treatment.
