摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently and inexpensively melting surplus activated sludge mainly generated from biological treatment facilities of sewage. <P>SOLUTION: In a gasification and melting method of sludge, dried sludge and/or carbonized sludge are/is blown into a melting furnace. The sludge is partially oxidized using oxygen or oxygen enriched air as a gasifying agent at a high temperature, thereby converted into combustible gas and slag. Then, the produced combustible gas is introduced into a sludge drying facility or a sludge carbonization facility. At the same time, sensible heat of the combustible gas produced in the melting furnace is utilized for preheating of air introduced into the sludge drying facility or the sludge carbonization facility. The particle diameter of the dried sludge is 3 mm or smaller, and the moisture content is 20 mass% or less. It is preferable that reaction conditions inside the melting furnace are as follows: the temperature is 1,000-1,600°C, and the gas residence time is 0.2-10 s. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p>
