TAPE CASSETTE, AND MAGNETIC TAPE DETECTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect a tape top and a tape end even in a magnetic tape high in light transmittance.

SOLUTION: The leader tape high in lighttransmittance is connected to the magnetic tape low in light transmittance, and the leader tape low in light transmittance is connected to the magnetic tape high in light transmittance. The type of a magnetic tape is determined by comparing the detection result of a light transmitted through the magnetic tape with the detection result of the amount of a magnetic tape wound around a reel, and the detection logic of the detection method of both ends of the magnetic tape is changed.
