PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a "recording device" in which the distance between a transducer to be mounted on a head slider and a recording medium can be made small. SOLUTION: The recording device is provided with a slider which has a rail surface 3b that generates buoyancy and protrusions 6a and 6b formed on the surface 3b, a transducer 2 which is mounted on the air flow out tip of the slider and a recording medium 13 which is placed opposite to the surface 3b and the transducer 2. The amount of floating height of the protrusions 6a and 6b close to the air flow out tip is made greater than the amount of floating height of the transducer 2 while the slider is floating above the medium 13.
