PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately manage the copy number of prints relating to a method and a device for managing the copy number of the prints, which are suitable for use in a printing machine, particularly, a rotary press. SOLUTION: In this method, the target copy number of the prints is preset; when the copy number of the prints of actually printed proper paper reaches a prescribed number based on the target copy number of the prints, the end processing of printing operations is performed for the management of the copy number of the prints; and on the occurrence of a reason to correct the target copy number of the prints during the printing operations, the correction processing of the target copy number of the prints is performed depending on the copy number of the prints, which has to be corrected.
